Deep Abyssal Real-time Transmitter for O2 or pH Sensors
PyroScience stands for intriguing optical sensor technology: simple, compact & flexible sensor systems with expert customer support. With the newly extended AquapHOx series, we now also offer a flexible underwater solution for monitoring our oceans down to 6000 m into the deep Abyssal touching the Hadal Zone. Explore state-of-the-art surveying >80 % of the ocean area with our fiber-optical sensor solutions.
Discover (Red)flashing pH and O2 sensing performance in the enduring dark depths of 4,000–6,000 m.
The AquapHOx-TX6 is a real-time data transmitter for underwater operation down to 6000 m water depth. It can be combined with a wide range of optical O2- or pH-sensors, offering unmatched flexibility for multiple applications with the same APHOX-TX6 device.
Simply choose the appropriate sensor head format for ocean pH or dissolved oxygen.
Combined with our (ultra-)high speed sensors, the AquapHOx-Transmitters are ideal tools for fastest O2 water column profiling or oxygen flux measurements using aquatic eddy covariance even down to 6000m water depth.
The deep abyssal transmitter is also available as deep abyssal long-time logger, as deep sea logger and transmitter down to 4000 m and as shallow-water (100 m) single analyte logger for O2 and pH.
White Papers
Supported analytes. This meter features ONE optical channel compatible to a broad range of optical oxygen and pH sensors with SUB-connectors. The optical sensor of your choice must be purchased separately. Each optical sensor is automatically temperature compensated by the integrated fast NTC sensor head.
Titanium Housing. This device can be deployed to a depth of 6000 m.
Digital Interface. A standard RS485 interface provides robust communication even at cable lengths up to several 100m. A USB 2.0 adapter cable is included for "plug and play" configuration / operation with Windows PCs.
Digital Protocol. Modbus RTU or PyroScience protocol (switchable)
Analog output. This device has integrated analog outputs (2x 0-5V, 2x 4-20mA (16 bit each)).
Broadcast Mode. A broadcast mode can be configured, where the device triggers itself periodic measurements with up to 40 Hz sample rate. The measurement results are given in real time at the analog outputs. No digital communication is needed in this mode.
Next generation PC software. The Pyro Workbench is our newest software solution and available as free download in the Downloads tab. Up to 10 PyroScience meters can be operated by the Pyro Workbench at once. It is used for configuring the device, calibrating the sensors, starting the logging, and finally for retrieving the logged data. The sensor readings are displayed numerically and graphically and can be logged in respective data files for further data processing. Additionally, the integrated Pyro Data Inspector features multiple data processing options like drift compensation or calculation of oxygen rates.
Innovative REDFLASH technology. The REDFLASH technology from PyroScience is based on the unique analyte-sensitive REDFLASH sensor materials. The REDFLASH sensor materials are excitable with red light and show an analyte-dependent luminescence in the near infrared (NIR). The REDFLASH technology impresses by its high precision, high reliability, low power consumption, low cross-sensitivity, and fast response times. The red light excitation significantly reduces interferences caused by autofluorescent samples. Further, the NIR detection technology significantly reduces interference with ambient light, known from the old blue-light techniques.
